With The World Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Kobe City; President and CEO: Shunta Igarashi; hereinafter referred to as "With The World") has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's FY8 Overseas Expansion of Japanese-Style Education (EDU-Port Nippon) Support Project. 

We will promote the "International Exchange Promotion Project for Mutual Understanding between Japan and Asian Countries/Promotion of SDGs" in India, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Ghana.

 

■ Background and purpose

The partner countries face challenges such as poverty, educational disparities, and disparities in learning opportunities between urban and rural areas. Furthermore, schools are criticized for a lack of career education and international collaboration skills, and there is a need for practical learning that can be conducted in the classroom and for high-quality international education. There is a need for project-based learning (PBL) that cultivates language skills and collaboration skills.

Through our lessons, we aim to cultivate students' English communication skills, as well as the intercultural understanding, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities necessary for global citizens, and the collaborative spirit that is one of the hallmarks of Japanese education.

 

Main Activities

Middle and high school students from various countries will be divided into teams and will conduct weekly online research on the theme of SDGs. In addition, collaborative classes will be held several times a month, bringing together students from each country to repeat the research, analysis, and verification process throughout the year. The program will also incorporate real-world exchanges such as school trips, adapting and deploying a sustainable education model as a hybrid of digital and face-to-face learning to each participating country.

 

■ Schedule

① Collaboration with universities for teacher training

By collaborating with teacher training universities and faculties in Japan and partner countries, and conducting training for educational support facilitators who mediate international exchange, we aim to improve the training and facilitation skills of educators who will be responsible for the future of education.

 

② Implementation of online and in-person inquiry-based learning

We conduct educational support-supported school trips to visit countries with which we have had online exchanges.

The program aims to leverage the "lack of opportunities for exchange" in partner countries to drive inbound tourism to Japan, and to deepen relationships and inquiry-based learning through further face-to-face fieldwork following online exchanges.

We will analyze whether these training programs contribute to improving multicultural understanding and well-being.

 

③ Implementation of an international forum

As the culmination of activities ① and ②, we will establish a "World Joint Presentation Competition" to share the results of our year-long collaborative learning with the world and deepen discussions.

We will share the transformations of the students who took the course and the results they achieved through a year of collaborative learning.
