Kwansei Gakuin High School (Nishinomiya City) is working on exchange classes through the Internet with Harapan High School in Bali, Indonesia. Throughout the first semester, we will discuss solutions to social issues common to both countries, such as tourism promotion and garbage problems. Nine students from Harapan High School came to Japan on the XNUMXth and are deepening mutual understanding through homestays and classes at Kwansei Gakuin.

In April of last year, we began trying to acquire global communication skills.About 1 third-year students who chose exchange classes formed teams with Harapan High School students in five fields, including traditional industries and tourism, waste issues, and food culture.Once a week, we set up problems in each field and discuss solutions over the internet videophone "Skype".

Harapan High School students coming to Japan is part of that. Aoi Ishii, 3, a third-year student at Kwansei Gakuin, said, "As a result of development, Bali's rice terraces, a traditional tourist attraction, are decreasing. It's similar to Japan, where the rich nature has been lost due to economic growth." talked.Taufi, 17, a second-year student at Harapan High School, said, "I was nervous when I used Skype, but when we met face-to-face, we were able to open up.
