Our Maibara High School class was featured in the Chunichi Shimbun!
Introduction of published articles
The Chunichi Shimbun newspaper covered Maibara High School's online international exchange classes and published an article about them.
The article introduced a class for second-year students held on January 1th, and noted how Maibara High School students actively engaged in exchanges with students from Afghanistan and Bangladesh, using gestures and other methods. In interviews with the students, it also appears that their motivation to learn English has increased as a result of the class.
Maibara High School Online International Exchange Classes
On January 1th and 24st, an online international exchange class was held for first and second year students at Shiga Prefectural Maibara High School.
The content of each lesson is as follows:
<1nd Year Students>
① Introduction/flow explanation
②Self-introduction icebreaker "common ground finding game"
3. Interview: "Recommended Places"
4. Discussion: "Let's have a birthday party" / "Is a uniform necessary?"
⑤ Review
<2nd Year Students>
① Introduction/flow explanation
②Self-introduction icebreaker "common ground finding game"
3) Interview: "Cultural exchange (learning about the other person's country and culture)"
④ Team presentation: "Research theme"
⑤ Review
First, the students deepened their friendships through a "common grounds game" that served as both an introduction and ice breaker. In this game, they learned about similarities and differences while having fun asking simple questions that could be answered with Yes/No. Once the tension was relieved and the atmosphere relaxed, they moved on to a cultural exchange activity, freely discussing recommended places and cultures in their home countries, further deepening their understanding of the exchange country and the exchange students. After that, the first-year students had a discussion, and the second-year students gave team presentations of their research studies that they had prepared in advance, working to improve their English ability to "communicate" through collaboration with overseas students and natural conversation. Throughout the program, the students gained knowledge and understanding of different cultures and developed practical English communication skills.
Finally
It is expected that students living in an increasingly globalized society will have no choice but to interact and collaborate with people from different backgrounds in the future. International exchange classes develop the skills necessary to succeed in such a society. By interacting with students from overseas, we provide a place for practical English and intercultural learning, and we cultivate not only English communication skills, but also understanding, flexibility, and adaptability to different cultures.
With The World's online international exchange classes retain the benefits of these international exchange classes, but by connecting with overseas countries online, they can foster global talent from anywhere, without geographic or financial constraints. Using our experience implementing programs at partner schools in over 67 countries around the world and educational institutions across the country, we provide thorough support from selecting exchange schools to planning and running classes, and provide high-quality classes that minimize the burden on teachers.
