This time, Nihonkai Shimbun interviewed us about the online study tour in the Philippines held at Seisho Kaichi Junior High School, so we would like to share it with you. (Permission has been obtained.)

Seisho Kaichi Junior High School in Tottori City held a class on the 4th to think about the problems of garbage mountains and slums in the Philippines. Thirty-nine third-year students exchanged opinions with local students online to deepen their understanding of the background of the problem and its impact on their lives.

Planned by "With The World" (Kobe City), a private company that provides international exchange class programs.Using tablet devices, students took a virtual tour of a vast landfill and nearby slums in Iloilo City, central Philippines.University student Maryjun (21) and high school student Carlo (17), who are also residents, gave us a tour of local life.

In an online exchange of opinions, local students reported that while there was concern that the mountains of garbage would pose a health hazard to residents of slums, the actual situation was that the garbage they picked up was converted into cash to cover their living expenses. The students asked about ways to reduce garbage.

After the class, 15-year-old Shinka Goto said, "It was all new to me, but it's a problem that needs to be solved. First, I want to let people around me know."
