Through this program, I improved my skills to take initiative and present my ideas to others. I actively participated in the discussion by suggesting new ideas and taking notes on a whiteboard and notebook. Also, I made posters, set donation boxes, and made song lyrics cards to contribute to our project. Before this project, I did not think of providing slum children with education. However, by learning what is happening to slum children in Indonesia in our weekly-discussions, I started thinking “I want to do something for them.” This feeling motivated me to take action.

“Teamwork across borders”
　

At the beginning of the program, I was not sure if the skype discussions solely would lead our project to success. However, our weekly-skype-meetings helped us with building friendship and teamwork across borders and working together to achieve the same goal. I was getting more and more interested in the program. Other schools should participate in this program, too because the project allowed me to change my perspective; I realized that I used to stick to the Japanese perspective but that it was important to see things from various perspectives.
