“I’ve come to be able to listen to other team members and take action.”

Through my experience of working toward the same goal with my team members and with students from a different country whom I’d never met before, I’ve come to be able to listen to other team members and take action. Each of us had ideas of what we should do, however, we would not have been able to make a good project if we’d just imposed our ideas on each other. Even though we had a language barrier, working toward the same goal as one team enabled us to create a good sense of unity and encouraged our team discussion.

This experience of initiating action from nothing made me realize the importance of planning. In the beginning, we started working on our project individually without planning, and therefore, we faced the problem of time management afterward. I think Indonesian students were very good at planning, and they regularly confirmed with us about what we should do at that moment and what we should finish by the next meeting. As we made a plan carefully, we succeeded in our project eventually. I learned a lot about planning skills from Indonesian students.
